Chickering Baby Grand Piano, 5’3″ African Mahogany, rebuilt & refinished about 12 years ago, originally built circa 1930. Chickering was one of the great American hand crafted Piano manufacturers of the 19th & 20th centuries. Chickering had one of the first patents for the metal plate inside all pianos. When this piano was rebuilt a few years back they put on new hammers, new strings, dampers, pins, they regilded/repainted the plate and reinforced the soundboard and refinished the case. Warranty. Steinway Baby Grand Piano Model S 5’1″, 1960, pretty mahogany, all excellent condition original Steinway parts. Our technicians regulated the action, shaped the hammers, cleaned the strings and soundboard, adjusted, aligned and voiced the hammers. Our furniture people went over the finish, buffing out any scratches then gave the piano a french Polish (applied several coats of hand rubbed padding lacquer then went over it with very fine steel wool to give piano an even sheen and a like new look). This hand-made custom exclusive Schimmel Pegasus Piano is one of only fourteen that were made ten years ago for high-profile people like Eddie Murphy, Lenny Kravitz, and Prince. It sports an ergonomically curved keyboard, over 200 strings under a total tension of 176,520 newtons, and a key assembly composed of 10,000 pieces. Professor Luigi Colani reimagined the traditional 88 keys and gave the classic grand piano a futuristic organic shape with some virtuoso upgrades. The Pegasus features a ergonomic curved keyboard ( i. e. the keys exhibit a slight curvature ) that encompasses 7 1/4 octaves, a electrically operated hydraulic lid that allows you to control the specific amount of projection desired, a fallboard “soft close” system, the original Schimmel Triplex Scale “CAPE” precision soundboard tri-dimensionally curved and formed with a “high performance” back assembly with tension collector, a Sostenuto pedal (middle pedal), a fully-adjustable integrated black leather upholstered stool extendible in width, height, and distance to the keyboard, and a hard-wearing professional lacquer finish resulting in a grand piano of breathtaking elegance.
